Herbal tea is not a true tea as it is not derived from the tea plant, Camellia sinensis. Any other plant steeped in hot water is actually called a tisane. We refer to these loosely as herbal tea. Examples are mint, chamomile, hibiscus, yerba mate, rooibos, and many more. As long as it does not come from Camellia sinensis, it is not tea.
